Mangrove Fishing
Explore the legendary mangrove swamps of Damas Island — wildlife, adventure & great fishing
The Mangroves of Damas Island
The beautiful mangrove swamps of Damas Island are home to our legendary Costa Rica mangrove fishing. The primary river flowing through the swamp is packed with abundant wildlife, plant life and incredible fishing.
We use flat-bottom boats to navigate efficiently through the swamps at the proper tidal times. All boats feature an extended canopy and plenty of seating. Fish sizes range from 12" (30 cm) to 60" (1.5 meters) — plenty of thrilling action for everyone.
One of the unique advantages of mangrove fishing is the chance to spot incredible wildlife — white-faced monkeys, sloths and exotic birds right from the boat.
Wildlife Sightings
While fishing the mangroves you're likely to encounter white-faced capuchin monkeys, three-toed sloths, caimans, tropical birds and more — all from the comfort of your boat.
